11.01.01 Once again, outside contractors will be coming to our postal facility dressed in their protective suits to take more samples of our work areas. We were instructed to continue working, not to be alarmed, and to move when they get to our area. They are beyond the screening stages of testing us for anthrax, and urged us to get the antibiotic for preventative reasons....This is what happened to the West Trenton Post Office, first the results are negative and normal, then the next thing you know, the place is closed down with contamination, and a person with the disease! Hope this is as far as it goes for us. 10.29.01 The tests from our station came back negative. They found no evidence of anthrax there (so far). 10.22.02 Sunday evening, Trentons Hazmat team, along with the FBI was at our Post Office in Downtown Trenton dressed in protective suits testing the area for any signs of Anthrax. No one I work with is sure what led them to test our facility at that time. They tested both inside and outside the office, encouraging us to get tested if we feel we need to. (Sounds like their sure we`re clean...hope their right!) So far, no one there has been infected. 10.13.01 All right, now this anthrax stuff is getting alittle scary! They say the letter mailed to NBC New York may have come through our Post Office...the one I work at! Postal Inspectors will be reviewing video tapes taken from the counter where they sell stamps. I guess come Monday morning there will be some extra bodies walking around. I`ll let you know if anything else evolves from this. 9.17.01 Yesterday was an honoring day for Robert. His name and picture was in The Times newspaper for being carrier of the month. Also, we had our troops` Court of Honor for the Scouts that achieved awards over the summer. The awards he received were metalworking, pottery, and camping (an Eagle requirement). He also moved up in rank from First Class to Star.(two more ranks till he becomes an Eagle Scout) He is also patrol leader for his patrol unit, The Wolverines 9.5.01 School days, school days... ahhh the joys of the kids going back to school! 8.28.01 The wife and I went to Martell`s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant to see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes in concert. We heard there was a special guest there watching the band play. When we decided to look around to spot this guest , standing right behind us was Jon Bon Jovi! We could have easily talked to him or shook his hand. Instead we just looked and watched. He was later called up on-stage to play with the Jukes. 8.3.01 Summer Vacation 2001 has been pretty good so far, a week of Boy Scout camping with Troop 20 (not me this time...I spent my first week of vacation taking some classes) and the Outer Banks, N.C. Here is a few pictures for now till I get more up. 6.24.01 Summer is here and school is out...the special awards Lindsay got were The President`s Award for Educational Excellence for Outstanding Academic Excellence , which comes with a letter from George W., an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, A Citizenship Award, and of course the other stuff like safety patrol and science fair....whew! 6.20.01 With still a few more days left of school, we received a letter asking us to attend Friday`s award ceremony where Lindsay will receive a special academic award. We can only imagine! Guess we`ll find out soon! 5.20.01 Robert went camping with the scouts at Kittatinny Mountain Scout Reservation (KMSR) this weekend where he finished his requirements and had a ceremony for the Order of the Arrow. He is now officially in the brotherhood. I`m not sure exactly what went on at the ceremony (you are not allowed to participate unless you are becoming a member) but from what I hear, it sounds like boot camp! Not allowed to talk the whole weekend, and their meals were good... a peanut butter sandwich for lunch and an apple for dinner!!! This is another high honor in scouting. 4.28.01 Once again, it`s the Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation`s annual Scholarship Ball to be held in Philadelphia, Pa. tonight that my wife and I will be attending. This will be the second ball this year we`ve been to, with last month`s ball being held for the Hibernians. (yeah, I forgot to post it on Linknews!) 4.19.01 Linda and I were walking in our backyard last weekend, doing spring things like deciding where to plant flowers, when my foot sunk in a small hole making me spill my coffee (forget the foot). That was a couple days ago. See what this sink hole looks like now! 4.8.01 Robert was nominated and elected to receive the Order of the Arrow. This is a recognized official program activity of the Boy Scouts of America, intended to recognize those scouts who best exemplify the scout virtues of cheerful service, camping, and leadership. 2.14.01 Robert starts a new job.....paperboy! 2.14.01 We had a great time skiing! The weather was beautiful, but cold and windy. Here`s a few pictures to check out. 2.9.01 It`s our annual ski trip with Troop 38 Scouts. We`ll be staying this weekend at Holiday Mountain Ski Area, which is in Monticello, NY.
