We began the second part of our journey early Sunday morning, August 13 about 4 am.  Our first stop was to The Cove Campground in Gore, Virginia for a suprise visit to Joe, Sal and families.  The surprise look on their faces was well worth the extra forty minutes or so out of the way. They had no idea we were coming.  Neither did we!  Why not, we were just passing through anyway!  We stayed a couple hours enjoying the breakfast

and morning cocktails they gave us.  It also gave the kids a chance to stretch a while out of the car.  We already traveld five hours and had at least another five to go.

It was a long five hours from Gore to our final destination, Beckly, West Virginia.  The scenery was magnificent and the motel was beautiful.  There was plenty things for us to do there.....

Some of the things we did were exploring, hiking, a tram ride down the mountain at Hawks Nest State Park, paddle boats, a ride on a jet boat, inside a coal mine.  If ever in  W.Va. again, I would like to rent a cabin at Babcock State Park. We visited Green Briar, a resort the rich and famous stay at (no celebrities were spotted ! ).

And finally, on the way back we stopped and ate dinner in Gettysburg, Pa. and one more surprise visit to see George and Pat.
